(A/N: Yiss. Long shot baybeee. Also, if you haven't noticed, I like making reader-chan super pro at sports or killing titans. SORRY. WARNING: OOC! This takes place during season 1 and then transitions to season 2. Oh, and lets pretend Nagisa kept in touch with Haru and Makoto instead of surprising them in high school, okay? AND PRETEND SOUSUKE LIVES NEAR YUKIMURA HIGH OKAY NOW YOU CAN READ SORRY.)

"(F/N), you're leaving? Why?!" He grabbed your hand, causing you to drop the luggage that you held. You broke out of his grasp and knelt to pick up the fallen luggage.

"Sorry, Nagisa-kun. I just don't belong in this town," you murmured. "I'll visit soon."

You were on your way to the train station when you ran into Nagisa, whom had graduated from the same middle school as you. You both were entering high school after summer ended, and you being a volleyball protege, were offered to go to Yukimura High in Tokyo, who had one of the best teams in Japan. (A/N: Made up school from my first Rin x Reader ;w; )

Nagisa gave you his infamous head rub for at least 3 minutes straight. Sighing and checking your watch, you pushed him off of you and gave him a hug.

"Don't miss me too much, 'kay?" You smiled and made your way to the train station.

"(F/N)..." Nagisa trailed off. He pulled out his phone and texted the other boys.

To: Haru-chan, Mako-chan
From: Nagisa
Subject: Tokyo!!!
Message:
(F/N) is leaving Iwatobi! I saw her walking to the train station. She's going to Yukimura High in Tokyo.

Isn't that the prosperous Tokyo school that has the best sports teams? That's good for her. She will be able to fulfill her dream of becoming the best setter in Japan.

From: Haru-chan
Subject: She will be missed.
Message:
That's good for her.

Nagisa puffed his cheeks.

"Seriously?! They're like supportive parents!"

TIME SKIP

When you finally arrived into Tokyo, your eyes scanned the crowd waiting in the train station. There are so many people, I have a feeling I won't like it here... You continued your search, looking for a sign with your last name on it. A kind family who lived nearby your school had offered to let you live with them at a very low cost. Your parents, who moved to Kyoto in your last year of middle school, decided to pay for your travel and living expenses. They also deposited money into a bank account under your name, so you could buy food and clothing. It was the least they could do, after they had left their daughter of only (your age) alone.

You walked towards the exit of the station, wondering if you should call them when...

"Oof!" You bumped into a tall, built teen who looked about 2 years older than you.

"Sorry, you're just so short I couldn't see you," the teen snickered.

"..." You pushed past him. You had no time for this. You were tired and annoyed of being surrounded by so many loud people.

"Wait! You're (L/N)-san, right? The volleyball protege? My parents asked me to come get you, they showed me a picture of you... I'm Sousuke Yamazaki." He rubbed the back of his neck.

You turned and faced him. "Nice to meet you. I'd rather be called (F/N), by the way. Is it okay if I call you Sou?"

He nodded and took your luggage.

"Eh?! This is so light! What do you have in here?!"

"A volleyball. Knee pads. Spandex. Socks. Shoes. Water bottle."

He looked at you like you were some sort of alien. "You're weird. What about your clothes?"

You gestured to the backpack slung over your back. "You blind or something?"

He scoffed. "Okay come on, let's go already." He walked out of the station and you followed him.

"So, where are you from?"

"Iwatobi."

"Eh? I used to live there during my elementary days."

You walked past tall buildings with shining bright signs. Nothing like the country... I'm homesick.

"Ah."

"You don't talk much, do you?"

"Only if it's about volleyball."

"Ha ha. Figures."

You both walked in silence, and after a few minutes reached a small home.

"I'm home!"

"Welcome back Sousuke! Did you bring her?" His mother asked.

He walked into the kitchen. "Yeah."

"...Where is she?"

"Right here ma'am," you said. Hidden by Sousuke's large figure, it was hard to see you. He moved to the side and revealed you, a short, (H/C) haired girl in black skinny jeans and a maroon sweater.

"You're so small! Are you sure you're going to be a first year?" She laughed.

"I don't think of myself as small, ma'am. On the court, I am a force to be reckoned with," you deadpanned. You were as passionate of volleyball as Haru was of swimming.

She sighed. "Your parents warned me about your obsession, I wouldn't think it would be that bad... Eh! Anyways. You will be staying in a room with Sousuke!"

"I thought I was getting my own room..."

"Sorry! Did I not mention that?"

"Mom, you can't just black mail people like that."

"Eh, it's okay. Just show me the room, I'm pretty tired."

Sousuke's eye twitched. "A-ah... Okay..."

He showed you to his room. It had a bunk bed, with teal covers, a desk, a bookshelf, and a TV.

"Bottom bunk."

"Excuse me?"

"I want the bottom bunk." You flopped face first onto the bottom bunk and pulled out your phone. "Ehhh?? 20 mail from Nagisa-kun and Makoto huh..."

Sousuke just stared. He sighed and placed your stuff by the bed. "That's fine. Are you hungry?" He asked.

"No," you replied. He sat leaning against the bed and turned on the TV. "Hey, you know Rin?" You pointed at the picture of the two elementary schoolers. You smiled at the thought of Rin, but it quickly faded into a frown.

His eyes widened and turned to look at you. "Yes... Do you?" He took note of the troubled expression on your face.

"What kind of question is that?"

"You're right."

You yawned and stretched. "School starts next week, right?" You looked at the uniform hanging on his door, a black blazer and white button up, that came with a teal tie and a black skirt, with teal fringe.

"That's right. You're already on the volleyball team I suppose?" His eyes wandered to your jersey that was hanging next to the school uniform.

"Yeah." You had visited Yukimura High various times during summer, practicing with the team. You had already made some friends, and they admired your skills very much. They even loved that bored expression on your face and your bluntness. At the last practice, the 2nd and 3rd years nominated you as captain of the JV girl's team.

"Ow!" Tch..." You dropped your phone on your face, not realizing you had fallen asleep. You rubbed your nose, and Sousuke chuckled.

"You should get some sleep. Didn't you say you were tired?" He looked back at you and saw that you had fallen asleep with your phone still on your face.

"How lovely." He took the phone, and just as he was going to put it on the nightstand, when it buzzed.

It buzzed again.

I'm disappointed.

Sousuke's eyes widened. Today is... Rin told me that he had someone very important he was coming back for in one of the letters he sent to me. He was to arrive specifically on the 18th of September. (F/N)... She must be the one. How cruel, to choose to move to Tokyo on this day, when we have a week till school actually starts... He placed the phone down.

He woke up to the sound of sobbing. 3:41am. A dim light filled the room, coming from your phone, Sousuke assumed. If she knew it was wrong...

To: Rinrin (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚♥
From: (F/N)

Subject: Tokyo. Yukimura High.
Message:
Sorry, Rin. Like you, I have a dream to pursue as well.

At Samezuka~

Rin groaned and turned over. Who was texting him at 3am? He grabbed his phone and stared at your message. Tokyo. Tears pricking his eyes, he tossed his phone across the room.

That idiot...

You never visited Iwatobi during your first year. Even for practice matches against Iwatobi, you made up an excuse and stayed home. It was too much for you to bear.

TIME SKIP: You are playing against Iwatobi for a practice match. Note: You are in your second year now, and Sousuke hasn't transferred yet.

You finally gave in and decided to go to an Iwatobi match. They needed their captain there, after all.

Nagisa, Makoto, and Haru had seen your team bus pull into their parking lot and ran straight to the gym. Then, they phoned a certain red head to join their fun.

Your team smashed both sets. With your skill and precise tosses to your spikers, you guys had an unstoppable momentum. Your jump serves were impossible to receive, and floater serves just frustrated the opposing team even more. You barked out commands to your team, and they all obeyed.

They watched in awe. You shone with skill and leadership. Anyone could tell that you loved this sport more than anything else.

After the match, you decided to overcome your fears of the red head and started toward the old group of friends.

"Captain (L/N)! Where are you going? The train is leaving for Tokyo in two hours!"

"I'll be there." You slipped on your team jacket, not that it would help anyways, you were wearing spandex, and you didn't bring any pants.

"Hello everyone," you said, slightly smiling. You then scoffed.

"Oi, Matsuoka. Aren't you being rude?"

He straightened up, feeling uncomfortable that you used his last name, and gave you a menacing glare. "Shut up, (L/N)." Your eyes narrowed. No, this is wrong. What am I doing?

Nagisa, trying to ease the tension, pushed you out the door, and started talking about penguins and food.

"Nagisa-kun, you're as annoying as ever."

"So mean, (F/N)-chan!"

You all decided to eat at a nearby diner. You walked in-between Haru and Makoto, sharing laughs and old memories. Sometimes, you genuinely smiled, brightly in fact, and it was certainly a glimpse of heaven.

Rin, who was trailing behind alongside Nagisa, watched your every step. The (F/N) he used to know was small and shy. Then again, the last time he saw you was when you were 6. Now, you were as blunt as Haru and taller. Your hair was longer, and your legs were quite toned from all the volleyball conditioning. He blushed when he realized he was staring at your bum. He scoffed. I shouldn't even be here... The Iwatobi boys (excluding Haru) had been pushing him to talk to you, and he finally gave in... To a face to face confrontation.

FLASHBACK

"(F/N), I'm going to Australia to train to become the best swimmer in Japan! Just you wait!" He told you on his last day.

"Hnn..." You wiped your eyes with your sleeve.

"Don't cry! I will come back for you in high school, okay? You won't be alone! You will be my bride!"

"Hic... You promise? This very day, the 18th of September?"

"Yes! On the 18th of September, before our first year of high school, I, Rin Matsuoka, will return for my bride!"

"I love you, Rinrin!" You sobbed, pulling him into a hug.

"Rinrin? Heh. I love you too, princess!" He smiled.

FLASHBACK END

You broke that promise. He couldn't forgive you.

You all finished eating and started walking to the train station.

"Mako-chan, Haru-chan! I just remembered! I forgot something in the club room, will you come with me?"

"Why don't you ask Rei..." Haru muttered.

"Rei-chan isn't even here! He's studying at home!" Nagisa whined.

"Let's go, Haru." Makoto smiled and whispered something into Haru's ear, then Haru nodded. They all turned around and walked back to Iwatobi High.

"See you soon, (F/N)!" Nagisa yelled, and the other two waved.

"They need three people... To retrieve one thing? Ah whatever, I'll be on my way. See you, Matsuoka."

You continued walking down the road towards the station, when--

"God damn it (F/N), call me Rin! You always call me Rin... Why... Are you calling me Matsuoka?! You're... You're the one who screwed everything up!" Rin yelled, tears streaming down his face. "You... broke the promise. Who do you take me for?! I keep my promises. God, damn it, it would be less painful if I didn't fall in love with you!"

You clenched your fists and dropped your sports bag. "What did you just say?" You grit your teeth. Don't cry. Don't.

"If I hadn't kept that damned promise, if I didn't think of you every god damn day I was in Australia, it would have been easier to forget you."

You turned to look at him and grabbed a fistful of his shirt.

"Oh yeah? How effing painful, Matsuoka. What was I supposed to do? Wait around, for my prince charming?! You were following your dreams... And abandoned me! How do you think I felt!? Did you think I wouldn't think of you every single freaking moment of every freaking day!? MAYBE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER IF I DIDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU! I found a dream, Matsuoka. It was something I was good at. I was praised. And during those moments, I wasn't thinking of you. I moved to Tokyo that day to forget you completely. To dedicate myself to volleyball. And then your name lights up on my phone, and everything rushes back to me?! This is pathetic! I don't want to be alone... Anymore..." You released his shirt turned away. "I'm going to miss my train." You picked up your bag and walked away silently, an ache in your chest.

Rin watched the young volleyball player walk away. Tears streaming down your face, you wiped your eyes with the sleeve of your jacket and stopped. You looked back at him.  He couldn't bring himself to move. You sighed, some part of you wanted him to be following behind you. But... You turned back again, the words Yukimura gleaming under the setting sun. Sayonara, Matsuoka... Rin watched your figure walk off into the sunset. Shit, what the hell did I just do?! I made things even worse. My chest aches. I want to cry. I need to get back to Samezuka. I. Want. To. Cry. Tears escaped his eyes. He stared at the ground, watching the tears hit the pavement. His phone buzzed. He wished it was you.

To: Rin
From: Sousuke
Subject: Tokyo.
Message:
I attached the train arrival and departure times along with my address. I should have told you this before, but my family is housing (F/N) in order for her to go to Yukimura. But that doesn't matter now. (G/N) brought her home and explained that she had been crying ever since they left Iwatobi. Fix what's broken, Rin, or let her go.

Two days later.

"I'm home!" You called out, removing your shoes. Receiving no response, you were confused. It's late... Everyone is usually home when I get home from volleyball...

You walked upstairs to you and Sousuke's room. Is that... The light? You opened the door slowly.

"Geez, Sou-kun, at least greet me when I get home you--" You were suddenly pulled sideways and onto the bed.

"Ehhh?!" You caught a glimpse of red hair. "Hey, you stupid bastard! Get off of me. Matsuoka!!!" You pinched his cheek. Hard. His grip only got stronger.

"No. (F/N), please hear me out."

Still upset from what had happened a couple of days ago, you decided to listen to his side. "Hurry up before I change my mind and stab you instead..."

He released you and you leaned against your pillow.

"I... I love you. I'm sorry. I didn't mean any of that. I should have... Talked to you when I was in Australia, sent you letters, texted you... But I didn't! I left you all alone, (F/N)... And I never realized how painful that must have been for you. I'm sorry... Really, really sorry. There are a lot of things I should have done. You dedicated yourself to volleyball and turned your back on me. But I want to tell you that I--"

You tugged on his arm and pulled him into a hug. "You stupid bastard...." You sniffled, tears streaming down your face. "I couldn't forget you! I was so alone... I needed volleyball... Rin... Rinrin... Don't leave me..." You sobbed into his shirt.

His eyes widened upon hearing that old nickname. "God damn it (F/N), let me finish..." He pushed you away and caressed your cheek. "I love you, my princess." His lips met yours. Your lips moved in sync, passionately and needingly. You both flushed pink. After a few seconds, the need for air burned in your lungs. As if on cue, he pulled away, wiping tears from your eyes. "Oi, stop crying. You're not alone anymore."

"And I love you, Rinrin." The two of you spent the night in each others arms, the first time since you were kids. Sousuke and his parents, who had been hiding in his closet for the past hour and watched you two do EVERYTHING, they walked out.

"Good plan, kiddo!" His father patted his back.

"My little cupid!" His mother cooed.

Sousuke on the other hand, wheezed and choked when he exited the closet. He just watched his best friend make out with his volleyball obsessed roommate.

"The things I do..." He muttered, grabbing a pillow and a blanket while ushering his parents out of the room. "Hope the couch isn't too bad for my shoulder..."
IT TOOK ME 3 HOURS. 3 GOD DAMN HOURS.
and i started crying at my own work.
help me.
